Sarah Hansson is a multi-talented artist from Gothenburg, Sweden. Her creative powers run the gamut from singing and songwriting to video direction and editing to fashion design and modeling.  "Living Proof" is a tasty pop treasure with bold lyrics. The accompanying video, directed and edited by Sarah herself, confidently proclaims the bold message of individuality through eye-popping colors and Sarah's alluring on-screen presence. Sarah is growing a fan base in the US and Internationally and will no doubt find even more enthusiastic fans as her song debuts this week on WOSRadio.

Today's Video Share: Calling by Deborah Henriksson

This celtic-style song and reflective video are gorgeous! If you need to de-stress, reboot and bring tranquility and harmony back into your day, this is the ticket.  The panoramic ocean seascape shots in the video transported me to a thoughtful meditation where I could put aside the trappings of the day and focus on the simple beauty of the world and of music.  The song "Calling" is taken from Deborah Henriksson's acclaimed and diverse album "Traces". Give yourself the gift of calm and reflective gratitude - watch this video.

Today's Video Share: Wicked Game by Ces Indie

"Wicked Game" is a heart-pumping, electronic pop/rock song about the trials of relationships. Unlike much electro-pop music, the lyrics for "Wicked Game" are accessible yet deep.  The message is passionately and artfully communicated by Ces Indie, a stand-out vocalist who is constantly praised by her fans for her amazing voice.  The video does a great job of depicting the mood of the song through engaging cinematography.

Today's Video Share: So Much More by Candice Russell

Candice Russell is a super-talented young pop singer-songwriter from Portland, Oregon. Her music is positive, inspiring, singable and soul-filled. This video was produced in conjunction with the Oregon Make-A-Wish Foundation as the "wish" for a very sick little girl named "Blue". Blue, who has a neuro-muscular disorder, wished to star in a music video with her family and chose Candice's award-winning song "So Much More" as the vehicle. Blue's mom says music brings Blue joy, and the video will provide a lasting memory for the family.  I have to admit I was balling at the end when I saw the message "In Loving Memory of Blue's Guardian Angels" cross the screen. This will move you and remind you that life is a gift.

Today's Video Share - Climbing Clouds by Jetty Rae

In honor of "Jetty Rae Week" on our Podcast, I thought it would be a good time to post a video by this talented and inspiring singer-songwriter.  Jetty has a unique style, infectious pop melodies and lyrics that burrow their way into your being.  Each day this week on our show Jetty answered a question from a fan.  One fan asked a question about the making of the video for Climbing Clouds (Episode 60). The song is a stirring tribute to the loss of a child. Jetty Rae boldly bears all her emotions in song and on screen and her fans love her for her vulnerability. As a mom, I could not help shedding a tear while watching this, yet I was left with a hopeful feeling after my catharsis. 

Today's Video Share - Everything Woman by Kristin Chambers

"Everything Woman" is the title track from singer-songwriter Kristin Chambers' most recently released album (October 2014).   This is a perfect song for Valentine's Day because it focuses on the little things that make a woman special to a man and bind them together as soul mates. My favorite lyric - "She'll fill in the spaces of what the day erases."  The video follows several women with different styles and in different circumstances to show the universality of the lyrical theme.

Today's Video Share: Kerosene by Kill For Eden

Kill For Eden is a hard rock band from the UK. Here are some fan comments about the group and this song: "Wicked! Kick Ass! Solid - the girl has some pipes!"  Their sound is heavy yet melodic.   The female lead possesses amazing vocal power and pin-point accuracy that isn't often heard in rock bands.  The chorus of "Kerosene" is a hooky gem that rivals any of the huge Power Pop hits on the radio. 

Today's Video Share: Chasing After You by Georgia English & The Jukebox Kids

This is a fun live acoustic performance of the song we've been playing on Women of Substance Radio and featured on Podcast Episode #52.   I love the blues meets bluegrass feel. Georgia's vocals have a distinct style that is both edgy and endearing.  Also love the harmonies. The lyrics speak to every woman who has been screwed over by a man.  This confident lady isn't going to accept anything but the full attention of her man.

Today's Video Share: Passenger Side by The Honey Creepers Band

The Honey Creepers Band is a trio from Fort Myers. FL that takes its name from a small tropical bird.  "Passenger Side" is an original song with an acoustic folk feel and inspiring lyrics (if you don't get the message right away, stay tuned to the end for the painted sign). The music video was shot in locations that epitomize small town America, including a Dollar Mart. Enjoy the music, but take the message to heart, especially if you are one of those people with "your whole life ahead of you".

The Young Evils are a Seattle band that was formed first as a duo by two co-workers at a record store.  Once they realized they had something specific and were asked to play a high-profile gig, they formed a full band. They were even signed to a branch of Universal recorded but soon after decided they'd prefer to be in control of their own musical destiny.  Twisted Heart, with MacKenzie Mercer on lead, is from their newest EP "False Starts". The studio version is  featured on Episode 53 of our #Podcast.  Here they are performing it live on KEXP. They sound amazing!

Today's Video Share: Stay Together by Madi Diaz

Called “the most danceable break up record ever” by LA Weekly, "Stay Together' by Madi Diaz from her album, Phantom, is reminiscent of an 80s synth/pop sound with a modern twist a la Imagine Dragons. "The record tells an arcing story that begins with a sweet naive love, then things get hard, and then comes a big slap in the face,” Madi laughs. “It starts nostalgic and resolves itself in this understanding of wider truth...this exhausted, relaxed goodness and reflection.” The pulsating and vibrant video was directed by Claire Marie Vogel, inspired by the work of Madi’s favorite visual artist, James Turrell , and shot at LA’s historical Fitzpatrick-Leland House along the slope of Laurel Canyon and Mulholland Drive.  The video's use of neon, shadow and geometric forms is captivating.

Today's Video Share - Watching Over You by Elevation Falls

Elevation Falls are a young (average age 18) 5 piece Irish Rock band headed by lead singer/songwriter and pianist, Hazel Jade.  This self-penned song was written by Hazel Jade to reflect the loss of a band member's grandmother at the time, but serves to provide the comforting thought that those we've loved, are still watching over us.  "Watching Over You" is a well-crafted song peppered with instrumental hooks and nuances that build anticipation to a memorable power chorus. The video is moving, entertaining and mysterious.

Today's Video Share: Peonies by Sarah Dooley

Sarah Dooley is a remarkable artist - a collision of the best of Regina Spektor and Ingrid Michaelson.  "Peonies" starts off with a sweet singer/songwriter vibe and evolves into an upbeat, quirky piano-driven pop. The video is wildly creative...I won't spoil it for you. But one fan said it is "the perfect music video for single girls on Valentines Day. I can't get enough of it!"

Today's Video Share: Go To Paris by Karmina

We do not usually post lyric videos on our Blog, but this one is over and above the rest.  It is "illustrated" by artist Ken Christianson at warp speed. The creativity of his writing and drawings and unique depiction of the lyrics really held my attention.  But let's not forget the music. If you haven't heard Karmina yet, then you better hit "play" right now. You've been missing out! Sisters Kelly and Kamille write unbelievably catchy yet sophisticated songs with lush harmonies. "Go To Paris" is a perfect vehicle for their talent.

Today's Video Share: Meet Me In Your Dreams by Markeisha Ensley

"Meet You In My Dreams" is an incredibly touching piano ballad that is both heartbreaking and hopeful written and performed by Markeisha Ensley in honor of her dad. Markeisha says, "There's hope after loss and a chance to see some who you love and miss again someday."  Markeisha's voice is overflowing with true emotion, encapsulating the perfect combination of vulnerability and strength to deliver the message of the lyrics. The use of color in the video perfectly captures a griever's journey from the depths of sorrow to the light of hope. The video was filmed on location in Aso, Japan.

Today's Video Share: I'm So Done by Alexis Grace

WOW! Alexis Grace has come a long way since Season 8 of "American Idol". Her new EP "Kiddo" is packed with well-crafted, thoughtful and memorable original songs. "I'm So Done" is the first single and it is a triumph. With its relentless beat and "in your face" vocals, it feels like a cross between Blondie, Gwen Stefani and Carrie Underwood (hard to imagine that combo...but here it is). The video is dramatic and full of energy and passion. Alexis Grace just lit a match under her music career with this one!

"This Year" is a catchy, inspiring song about the hope and opportunity the new year brings. JJ Heller and her husband Dave just put the finishing touches on the song minutes before recording the live acoustic performance.  They make beautiful harmony together and JJ even dons the harmonica.

The song was made famous in the Disco era by Amii Stewart but has been re-claimed by these powerful women. This fun, bluesy, and "jump out of your seat and dance" performance reveals the versatility of Celine Dion and the genius of the late Carole Fredericks. Even if you're sitting at your desk watching this...you'll be grovvin'.

Today's Video Share: Field of Daffodils by Carrie Bowen

This song will be perfect for Valentines Day! Carrie sings the light, plucky melody so sweetly it immediately put a smile on my face.  The mood and cinematography of the video are artsy and creative, calling to mind memories of children frolicking in the garden and young lovers bursting with the excitement of new love.  You can get a copy of this song on iTunes to play for your sweetheart (don't wait until Valentines Day:).
