Today's Video Share: "Neon Moon (Reimagined)" by Marianne Kesler

Neon Moon (Reimagined) is song 6 in the Pear in the Pink Thing (Reimagined) series on my YouTube channel!
The storyline was triggered by 3 varied life experiences but came together as a lyric taking a look at how the human race continues to search for deeper wisdom (a northern star) even amidst our intricate technological world. Today's Video Share: "Storm" by Christina Martin

Canadian songwriter Christina Martin has launched new single Storm, the rousing title track off her latest album, and announced over 35 tour dates in Europe for Fall 2023. This single is a triumphant and graceful anthem, rising from delicate beginnings to stratospheric heights, and showing Martin’s trademark ability of taking the personal, and making it universal.

“I chose Storm as the title track for this album because it represents the failures and hard times that help me become a better person.”

The single’s origins lie many years ago, sparked on the night Hurricane Juan hit the coast of Nova Scotia in 2004. Initially inspired by walking home through the storm-lashed streets, it was many years before the song ran to completion. By that time, it’d evolved into a heartfelt musing on hindsight. A reflection on how all the experiences we go through, the good and the bad, the sunny days and the storms, all contribute to the person we become. As ever, Christina Martin wields her unique talent to take her own personal experiences, and deliver them in a way that can speak profoundly to so many.

Today's Video Share: "Little Princess" by Christina Martin

Introducing Canadian rocker Christina Martin, who's been making noise for a few years now and releasing some amazing records, while gaining critical acclaim for her songwriting and live performances from CLASH, AmericanaUK, and Songwriting Magazine among others. Thanks to her constant touring, she has a huge following in Canada and across Europe. Her upcoming eighth album Storm is out on 1st September, a rootsy and rocky listen with lots of anthemic hooks and lavish strings - think Sharon Van Etten or Everything Must Go-era Manic Street Preachers. Opening number Little Princess, is one of the album’s rockier tracks with a prominent chugging guitar line. It acts as 'Storm'’s overture, introducing us to the album’s twin central pillars of lush orchestral arrangements and Martin’s heartstring lyricism. In the case of Little Princess, the lyrics deal with Martin's childhood, even making use of her childhood poetry, and the influence of her older brother, who sadly died aged 41 of an opoid overdose. Confessional and pensive, it’s elevated from a rock ‘n’ roll toe-tapper to something altogether more thought-provoking.

Today's Video Share: "Petal of A Rose" by Emily Glazener

"I wrote "Petal Of A Rose" about reflecting on the moments before, during, and after my husband’s passing. Mourning can, at times take years and in those years, you peel back and reflect small moments that become your sweetest memories. I remember holding the roses left in the ground from my husband’s funeral. Knowing, as I sat there his flag would be passed down to my children, who were so young that they wouldn’t remember the sound of his voice. A voice that I heard and my life was changed forever. I remember the sound of silence when his oxygen was shut off in the house, I remember each child spending their last day with him. My story is very similar to people who has experienced loss. I celebrate these memories because they will carry me and my children through the rest of our lives." - Emily Glazener

Today's Video Share: "God of Covenant" by Tolu!

God Of Covenant is the defining song for my upcoming Covenant Child album. This song is a celebration of God’s faithfulness through the ages, and is so special to me as it represents all the ways God has loved and been faithful to me in my lifetime. He has seen me though dark times and uplifted me on the other side of it.

I hope this song encourages anyone going through hard times that God is the God of Covenant, always staying true to His word. His promises are Yes and Amen and even as He kept His covenant in the old days, He will keep the new covenant He has with us through Christ's salvation.

Today's Video Share: "Cursed" by Rosie Bell

The single 'Cursed' was inspired by a character from the television series 'The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals". Fans of the show loved to create edits of the characters so we teamed up to make a lyric video that would showcase the character and show how the singer could well be "Cursed" for falling in love with him. The artist Rosie Bell is a writer from Ireland who typically writes for TV and sync but decided to channel her own inner Kate Bush to bring this fun, sexy song to life.

Today's Video Share: "Whistle Blow" by Rachael Sage

Rachael Sage’s “Whistle Blow”, with its distinctly Americana palette of slide and acoustic guitars, finds the award-winning songwriter musing on power dynamics and boundaries in the wake of many a public figure’s bad behavior come to light. A composite account of women’s struggles to be respected in the workplace, at home, and in history books, this propulsive, musically lush track will resonate with anyone summoning the strength to stand up for themselves – and against oppression in any form. The beguiling one-shot video was directed and produced by Jenny He and features Rachael Sage and dancer/choreographer Kyle Livsey. Filmed at The Art Factory in New Jersey, the director used the natural light of the windows, which inevitably varied throughout the day, until the early evening light set the stage perfectly for the mood of the song. Sage explains, "We wanted the video to express the mounting drain of 'carrying' someone else, all their baggage and lack of boundaries - and to project the weight of what it feels like to be trapped within any kind of relationship, through movement. I've never done a one-shot video before and it was challenging - no edits! - but ultimately, I think it really serves the song and allows the viewer to experience the various power dynamics that 'Whistle Blow' spotlights, in an abstract, poetic way.” As a visual artist and a former ballet dancer who performed with the New York City Ballet, Sage brings elements of those disciplines into the video for "Whistle Blow".
